Meshing With Monochromatics

Don't put away those winter jackets just yet because Canadian weather is pulling a very long April Fool's joke on us. How is it 22 degrees Celsius one day and 3 degrees two days later. Please. Just let it actually be Spring already.

Change Room Diaries: Two Tone Jumper

Top : (inside) denim shirtknitted two tone jumper ; Bottom : skinny jeans ; Shoes : gold trim slippers

Knitted stuff!! I went to Topshop today and found a bunch of things I like. I chose this particular outfit because I thought it would be the most wearable. My two favourite items from this outfit are the jumper and the slippers. I've been looking for a black and white jumper like this one for quite awhile. I love the pattern and how warm it is! The shoes are great because of course, there is a little bit of gold in it :). Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Red

Top : Zara knit sweater ; Bottom : H&M jeans ; Shoes : warehouse stilettos ; Accessories : Zara belt, Jacob bracelet

I found this sweater tucked between a pile of other sweaters in the store during their sale. The sweater's a little big on me but I still bought it as it was only $15. Yay! I paired it with the leopard printed belt and a simple bracelet. The red really pops, but it kinda makes me look like Christmas! I could probably wear this in spring with jeans or shorts because the material's very light and very loose fitting. I think this outfit would be great for classy dinner. :p

Keep Yourself Warm

Top : (inside) Wilfred t-shirt, Forever 21 chambray shirt, American Eagle knit sweater ; Bottom : H&M shorts, tights ; Shoes : Aldo leather boots ; Accessories : H&M knit scarf; durumi ring, Everything frinury ring, Michael Kors crossbody bag

Whenever I go shopping I try to bring as little as possible so I can search for things freely. That means smaller bags, no jackets, no drinks, things like that. I layered a chambray shirt and sweater over a t-shirt to keep me warm and also when I got to the change room everything would be easy to take off. It's a little hard to see but I'm wearing shorts over tights to maintain that layered look. This outfit was super comfy and kept me warm for the whole day!

Change Room Diaries: Studded Peplum Skirt

Top: Print top & Maroon blouse ; Bottom: Multi-studded peplum skirt ; Shoes: Platform ankle boot with zip

I don't usually wear skirts but this one really caught my eye.  I LOVE STUDS. Honestly you can stud a rug and I'll wear it...somehow lol. So I paired the skirt with a print top inside a maroon blouse with these sand coloured booties. I love the different textures in this outfit and the colours are great for fall! All these pieces were from Zara. They always surprise me with very unique designs which is why it's one of my favourite stores. I thought this outfit would be perfect for a girls night out. :)

Sometimes just a Tee

Top : Zara t-shirt ; Bottom : H&M faux leather pants ; Shoes : Nine West leather bootie

Hey guys! I have to apologize for the lack of posts I made recently.  I've just been swamped with work but I'm back :) and hopefully I can make more posts!  Lately I've been rushing in the mornings to get to class so I just throw on a t-shirt and be done with it.  This is one of my favourite t-shirts at the moment because of the thick cotton material and the jewels on the shoulders.  I just wish there were more jewels!!  Other than that, this a super comfy outfit I like to go to school in.

Change Room Diaries: Abstract Peplum Top

Change Room Diaries is a series we are starting where we put together outfits and show you how we style different pieces at our favourite stores. I always think about how many different ways I can wear a particular piece of clothing before I purchase it. We'll be showing you how we style a certain piece in different ways or we will just be putting a full outfit together. Hope you enjoy!

H&M
Abstract Peplum Top $49.95
This shirt is the most comfortable shirt I've ever put on. The material feels like spandex or a really soft bathing suit. It's magical and it fits wonderfully!

Velvet Pants
I've been looking for affordable velvet pants for a while! These go along great with this shirt if you want to go for more of a casual look but still keep it classy. Mixing textures is a great way to spice up your outfit.

Pink Trousers
Matching your bottoms with a colour in your shirt is an easy way to create a very put-together outfit. Trousers are great for when you want to wear something more roomy when your top is form-fitting. Trousers can also make an outfit look more sophisticated.

 Burgundy Shorts
This would be a cute look for a night out in the summer. Shorts or pencil skirts look great with peplum and it's a matter of experimenting to see if different colours work with the top or not. The burgundy, to me, works because the top is dark and the colours on the top are mostly on the red side of the colour wheel. Blue shorts would work as colour blocking to the orange on the top.

Velvet pants $59.95 ; Pink Trousers $69.95 ; Burgundy Shorts $34.95

Hope you guys enjoy the Change Room Diaries! We might not blog all Change Room Diaries, so follow us on Instagram if you want to see more! @neonvoltage
Have a great week!

Fur & Denim

Top : Local Boutique dress, fcuk denim vest ; Shoes : Jeffrey Campbell lita boots ; Accessories : H&M fur collar, JewelMint Raven bracelet
Lips : Revlon Lip Butter Fig Jam ; Nails : China Glaze Up All Night

I decided to try something new today.. Be a little ballsy and wear some knee high socks. I always see pictures of girls who wear knee high socks and it looks so cute in a very non-slutty way. I decided to give it a shot. I'm normally very comfortable in whatever I decide to wear for the day, but today was different. I think knee high socks will need some getting use to for me since I did have a bad experience with them when I was little which has scarred me for life. I will not discuss this.. but yes :( I'll never forget.. Another thing that made me uncomfortable was the fur collar. It's really short and always slides off one shoulder. Not one of my favourite outfits but gotta keep this blog alive! *cough v cough*

If you would like to see more pictures, we made an Instagram! Just because we don't always have access to a photographer and it would be a lot easier to upload stuff instantly through instagram. Follow us on Instagram! @neonvoltage

Autumn Circus

Top : H&M sweater ; Bottom : Winners (THX Thanx Collection) pants ; Shoes : Topshop wedges ; Accessories : Gucci belt, Winners necklace
Lips : Wet N' Wild 522A ; Nails : OPI Mrs. O'leary's BBQ + China Glaze Matte Magic

Today I was told that I looked like I was standing on stilts... well I dont give a flying leaf because I love this outfit. I had two of my favourite fall colours on, oxblood and olive green. When I found these pants at Winners, I was attached. I hoped oh-so-badly that they would look okay on me. To my surprise, I don't think they look too bad. :) These pants are so versatile because you can wear them pretty much all year round (except the snowy days). When it gets cold, like today, you can wear a pair of leggings or some skin tight pants underneath for the extra warmth (I do that under maxi skirts or harem pants too). And in the spring or summer, these pants would look great with a sleeveless button-up shirt loosely tucked in. Well that's all for today. Sorry for the lack of posts. We had a mini Hurricane Sandy attack here, not as bad as New York, but it's been raining all of last week. I've also been busy with midterms, still am, but I will try my best to post more! Thanks for sticking around!

Farewell Fall

Top : Armani Exchange t-shirt, Tory Burch leather jacket ; Bottom : Forever 21 leggings ; Shoes : Forever 21 boots ; Accessories : Winners necklace
Nails : OPI William Tell Me About OPI (love this colour, great vampy purple almost black)

Yes I know fall isn't over yet, but the weather says otherwise. It is getting cold FAST! So this just may be my last post. Haha, without a thick winter jacket that is. This is just a casual outfit for my last frolic in fall. I was actually freezing wearing this light jacket today, but it matched so well with the foliage. I paired the necklace with this outfit because I like how the turquoise and the mustard of the jacket paired together. Black bottoms. You can never go wrong with black bottoms. But I am in need of some solid coloured pants. I have so many printed pants but barely any coloured ones. I'm on the hunt for some deep olive green ones or burgundy. Mmm. I am in love with burgundy. I've been thinking about dyeing my hair burgundy but I kind of like how my hair is a natural ombre. I did do it purposely, but I can't really see the ombre in person, only in pictures and boy do I love it. So I might just wait until the summer to dye my hair... WHO KNOWS. As you guys can probably tell, I gave up on the bangs. They were too hard to maintain. I wake up every morning regretting my spur-of-the-moment adventure. So it has grown out and now I have awkward side bangs! Anyways, back on topic.. these boots, they are my awesome find from Forever 21. The most comfortable shoes I own from F21. They arch at the perfect spot on my foot. I knew right away that these boots were going to be comfortable when I tried them on. It was love at first try? But yes, for $31 they are such a steal! They actually go above the knees but for something more casual I like to fold them inwards and just let them slouch like short boots. I love them!
BONUS POST.
Since I didn't post for a week.. I included this tiny little post-post (get it? post-post like after post. I'm lame)

Top : Jessica McClintock dress ; Accessories : Juicy Couture earrings, (cannot be seen) H&M hair comb thing
Lips : L'oreal Paris Infallible Lipcolour Beyonce's Red 399 ; Nails : OPI Designer... De Better

Last week I went to my friends' wedding! It was the most amazing thing ever, I am so happy for them. I have never been in love and I kind of felt it through them if that is even possible, it's kind of hard to explain without sounding like a huge cheese ball. I don't know, I was so overwhelmed with joy and happiness I couldn't stop crying. Atleast now I know that the Rimmel Sexy Curve Waterproof Mascara actually works. Anyways. This dress was my prom dress three years ago. I do like it a lot but I hate re-wearing a dress that I wore on some sort of special occasion in my life. I feel like after the event is over, the dress will symbolize something. By wearing it again, it takes away all the memories and just jumbles up with the new and it doesn't seem as special anymore. But I was desperate! I tried a new look that I've always wanted to attempt but never got a chance to. Can you guess what it is? Probably not, cause I don't think I pulled it off. It was suppose to be old hollywood glam'esque. I will try again, one day. Okay this post is getting too long.
Farewell,

Leather Pairings and GOLD

Top : Danier leather jacket, (inside) Jacob blouse ; Bottom : RW&Co. leggings ; Shoes : Aldo leather boots ; Accessories : Zara mesh hairband, H&M Anna Dello Russo bracelet, Topshop ring, Banana Republic scarf, Angie & Lola leather clutch

This is one of my favourite fall looks. It has my favourite leather pieces, the warm tan colours, and gold.  This outfit seems a bit dark but it allows the gold to really stand out. The keys also add a bit of texture to the outfit when seen from afar.  This is actually my sister's scarf.  I've been trying to snatch this scarf from my sister since the day she bought it haha.  I just love the keys on it and it's really soft.  Another thing I wanted to talk about was the gold bracelet. H&M introduced their new designer collection from Anna Dello Russo (an editor-at-large and creative consultant for Vogue Japan, yep had to wiki it). A section of the store featured these beautiful gold accessories, purses, and shoes. I couldn't resist as I love GOLD. I chose this bracelet out of the rest because I thought it would be most wearable. After purchasing the bracelet, they gave me a lovely bag with cute illustrations on it with a GOLD FRAME.  I'll definitely be adding this to my shopping bag collection.  If you want to see the rest of the collection, visit the h&m site!

Work Appropriate

Top : H&M printed blouse ; Bottom : H&M jeans ; Shoes : warehouse stilettos ; Accessories : H&M bracelet, Topshop ring, H&M belt, Matt&Nat clutch

I don't usually wear black and white together, but when I do, I feel like I'm going to work especially with those pointed stilettos. I wasn't too sold on the blouse when I first saw it in the store, but it looked great once I tried it on.  The pattern also goes well with most of my clothes.  And of course, that red belt that I love, it really pops out in this outfit! I tried styling my hair differently since I usually just leave it down. Today it kinda looks like a giant brush haha. The weather is definitely getting chillier around here so I'm going to have to find myself a warm jacket! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Gothic Glory

Top : H&M peplum shirt ; Bottom : H&M printed pants ; Shoes : Topshop wedges ; Accessories : Topshop chain mail collar necklace, H&M fur shoulder wrap
Lips : Wet N' Wild 522A

One of the trends for fall is gothic. It's not as scary as it sounds for those who haven't seen it. It contains a lot of lace and leather detailing and dark shades of clothing. I really like the trend except I highly doubt I can pull off that look. This outfit, minus the shoes and necklace, was actually gifted to me for my birthday from my two best friends, Vickie and Maria (That one loyal reader of our blog who will nag me if I do not post). They would get me printed pants and peplum! Haha I love it! The shoulder wrap looked a little bit weird and made my neck look stubby, so I draped it over one shoulder and pretended like I was oh so glamourous. I kind of like how it turned out. :P I tried to put my own gothic twist to this outfit with the dark lipstick and chain mail collar. It was not that successful. Oh well! The outfit screams Autumn to me, so thats good enough for me!

Happy frolicking in fall foliage!
FROLIC FRIDAYS.

A Baroque Birthday

Top : Winners (Como) dress/tunic ; Bottom : American Apparel tights ; Shoes : Topshop wedges ; Accessories : Chanel purse (lucky hand-me-down from my mother :D), Winners gold choker necklace

Sorry for the lack of posts lately! I have been quite busy, my photographer aka my mother has been busy, and I didn't like some of the stuff that was shot. Anywho, it was my birthday yesterday and I had school all day so I couldn't celebrate it. But I did celebrate with my family on the weekend which was awesome. Today I had a girls night out and I wanted to wear this dress/tunic before it got too cold to wear short dresses. I LOVE the Baroque trend that has emerged for this fall. The prints are so elegant and classy and beautiful. I love it. It makes me want to dress like Marie Antoinette for the whole season, hair, huge dresses, corsets, and everything! Bangs update. I am starting to like them but I do not like how it pokes my eyes, makes my eyes look smaller than they already are, put hair into my eyes (one full strand hair from my bangs went into my eye and just decided to swim around in my eye socket), and is so hard to maintain. It's a nice change... but I don't think it's one that is going to last too long for me. Also, I won't be having any nail tutorials or anything for a little while because I cut my nails. I have to regrow them so I can have a nice, new, clean canvas. :P  That's it for now! Thanks for dropping by,

Shorts One Last Time

Top : RW&Co. jacket, H&M shirt ; Bottom : H&M shorts ; Shoes : Nine West peep toe heels ; Accessories : Zara Mesh Hairband, Topshop ring ; Nails : Deborah Lippmann Across The Universe

You're probably thinking how I can still wear shorts in this chilling weather.  Well it got a bit warmer in the afternoon and I thought to myself MUST WEAR SHORTS ONE LAST TIME O_O. I bought these shorts years ago because I loved the material and the buttons.  The wooly material on these shorts are perfect for this kind of weather! If you read the description of the accessories I wore, you'll notice that my necklace is actually a hairband.  The mesh metal allows the hairband to rest pretty much anywhere you want and it really adds to a simple outfit. I bought the Deborah Lippmann nail polish during the summer because it was just so beautiful in the bottle and on the nail swatch.  This is the first time I'm trying it and I layered it over a black nail polish.  It turned out exactly how I wanted it to; not too bright and sparkly and still dark enough to compliment my outfits.  I usually change nail polishes every few days because I get bored of it but I have been wearing this for almost a week a now and I still LOVE IT.
