Don't put away those winter jackets just yet because Canadian weather is pulling a very long April Fool's joke on us. How is it 22 degrees Celsius one day and 3 degrees two days later. Please. Just let it actually be Spring already.
OPI I'm Not Really A Waitress, China Glaze Cheers To You, Essie Set In Stones
Another nail post... but here is a more versatile manicure for any holiday. I couldn't think of a good name for this design, but it's a great design for whichever holiday you celebrate! I got a lot of compliments on it, just in one day! Hope you guys enjoy!
Essie Mademoiselle, Julep Kate, OPI Servin' Up Sparkle, L.A. Colors Art Deco forest green, Sally Hansen Blood Red
A manicure perfect for the holiday season!
I'm off school until January and I clearly have a lot of time on my hands, so if there is a nail design you guys want to see then leave a comment and let me know. I'll try to recreate it and make a tutorial!
Hope you all are having a great week!
This is my Skyfall inspired nail design that I came up with after seeing the OPI Man with the Golden Gun top coat. If you guys don't know what that is, or haven't seen it, it's a top coat with 18 karat gold leaf flakes. It retails for $30 and I was not going to spend that much on a top coat with some gold flakes. I decided to create my own rendition of the top coat for you guys, so here it is!
It's my first video tutorial, so tips, pointers, and suggestions would be great!
I got this amazing super reflective glitter and wanted to use it instantly and this is what I did with it!
I won't be making a picture tutorial of it yet because I am super busy with school but here are the steps!
Things you will need:
Base coat (optional)
Base colour of your choice
Glitter of your choice (the more reflective the better)
A piece of paper creased in the middle
A brush (I used a blush brush that I'm not fond of)
Top coat (optional, I did not use one to keep the rough texture)
1. Use a base coat if you wish.
2. Paint one nail any colour you wish. I used a lavender.
3. While the nail is still wet, dip your nail directly into the tub of glitter.
4. Take your finger out of the glitter and with the nail above the glitter facing the tub, tap the underside of your finger with your other hand to remove the excess glitter.
5. This won't get rid of all the glitter so after you got rid of most of it, tap your finger nail on the piece of paper to get rid of more glitter.
6. Continue to do this with the rest of your hand. Before starting on the other hand, take the brush and lightly sweep the nails to get rid of the glitter around your nail, under your nail and on top of your nail.
7. You may use a top coat if you wish
8. There will be a lot of glitter fall out so once your nails are completely dry, sweep them again with the brush and make sure you tap the glitter out of the brush between each nail or the glitter will get everywhere
And that is it! It seems like a lot of steps but it was very easy and took me 2 minutes to do. You don't need to paint your nails perfectly because the glitter will cover most of it.
Change Room Diaries is a series we are starting where we put together outfits and show you how we style different pieces at our favourite stores. I always think about how many different ways I can wear a particular piece of clothing before I purchase it. We'll be showing you how we style a certain piece in different ways or we will just be putting a full outfit together. Hope you enjoy!
H&M
Abstract Peplum Top $49.95
This shirt is the most comfortable shirt I've ever put on. The material feels like spandex or a really soft bathing suit. It's magical and it fits wonderfully!
Velvet Pants
I've been looking for affordable velvet pants for a while! These go along great with this shirt if you want to go for more of a casual look but still keep it classy. Mixing textures is a great way to spice up your outfit.
Pink Trousers
Matching your bottoms with a colour in your shirt is an easy way to create a very put-together outfit. Trousers are great for when you want to wear something more roomy when your top is form-fitting. Trousers can also make an outfit look more sophisticated.
Burgundy Shorts
This would be a cute look for a night out in the summer. Shorts or pencil skirts look great with peplum and it's a matter of experimenting to see if different colours work with the top or not. The burgundy, to me, works because the top is dark and the colours on the top are mostly on the red side of the colour wheel. Blue shorts would work as colour blocking to the orange on the top.

I decided to try something new today.. Be a little ballsy and wear some knee high socks. I always see pictures of girls who wear knee high socks and it looks so cute in a very non-slutty way. I decided to give it a shot. I'm normally very comfortable in whatever I decide to wear for the day, but today was different. I think knee high socks will need some getting use to for me since I did have a bad experience with them when I was little which has scarred me for life. I will not discuss this.. but yes :( I'll never forget.. Another thing that made me uncomfortable was the fur collar. It's really short and always slides off one shoulder. Not one of my favourite outfits but gotta keep this blog alive! *cough v cough*
If you would like to see more pictures, we made an Instagram! Just because we don't always have access to a photographer and it would be a lot easier to upload stuff instantly through instagram. Follow us on Instagram! @neonvoltage

Today I was told that I looked like I was standing on stilts... well I dont give a flying leaf because I love this outfit. I had two of my favourite fall colours on, oxblood and olive green. When I found these pants at Winners, I was attached. I hoped oh-so-badly that they would look okay on me. To my surprise, I don't think they look too bad. :) These pants are so versatile because you can wear them pretty much all year round (except the snowy days). When it gets cold, like today, you can wear a pair of leggings or some skin tight pants underneath for the extra warmth (I do that under maxi skirts or harem pants too). And in the spring or summer, these pants would look great with a sleeveless button-up shirt loosely tucked in. Well that's all for today. Sorry for the lack of posts. We had a mini Hurricane Sandy attack here, not as bad as New York, but it's been raining all of last week. I've also been busy with midterms, still am, but I will try my best to post more! Thanks for sticking around!

Halloween is in 11 days and I thought it would be fun to do some halloween makeup looks. This one being the first. Just a simple and girly fairy/princess/anything-that-is-girly look. Since it is my first post solely on makeup, I don't really know how to go about it. I've always liked the dressing up aspect of Halloween. Just because you can overdress (or underdress in most cases) the heck out of yourself and noone will judge you. Although I never buy Halloween costumes because they are so darn expensive and I wouldn't wear it a second time (Yes I know there is a DIY option but I never do anything for Halloween anyways). I've really only had one real Halloween costume and that was in the first grade... I was a giant jack-o-lantern. I wonder if I can find pictures.. maybe I'll post one. I love the making-yourself-over part of halloween since the costumes are slowly dying in creativity and morphing into plain old undergarments nowadays. Anyways, I dont know if I should have a mini written tutorial on how I did this look or if people just want to see what I came up with. I'm not very good at makeup so if I was to make a tutorial it would probably sound something like "Colour those eyelids. Use a brush if you want" Haha just kidding. Well that is my "Fairy Princess" look/costume! Hope you like it! :D
P.S. These 'dress-up' looks are mostly for makeup not costumes. I just pulled out random pieces to try and match. I'm not really trying to create a full look from head to toe, just playing around with makeup looks. I was actually wearing sweat pants because I don't have anything fairy-esque, like a tutu. Until my next dress-up day,

Yes I know fall isn't over yet, but the weather says otherwise. It is getting cold FAST! So this just may be my last post. Haha, without a thick winter jacket that is. This is just a casual outfit for my last frolic in fall. I was actually freezing wearing this light jacket today, but it matched so well with the foliage. I paired the necklace with this outfit because I like how the turquoise and the mustard of the jacket paired together. Black bottoms. You can never go wrong with black bottoms. But I am in need of some solid coloured pants. I have so many printed pants but barely any coloured ones. I'm on the hunt for some deep olive green ones or burgundy. Mmm. I am in love with burgundy. I've been thinking about dyeing my hair burgundy but I kind of like how my hair is a natural ombre. I did do it purposely, but I can't really see the ombre in person, only in pictures and boy do I love it. So I might just wait until the summer to dye my hair... WHO KNOWS. As you guys can probably tell, I gave up on the bangs. They were too hard to maintain. I wake up every morning regretting my spur-of-the-moment adventure. So it has grown out and now I have awkward side bangs! Anyways, back on topic.. these boots, they are my awesome find from Forever 21. The most comfortable shoes I own from F21. They arch at the perfect spot on my foot. I knew right away that these boots were going to be comfortable when I tried them on. It was love at first try? But yes, for $31 they are such a steal! They actually go above the knees but for something more casual I like to fold them inwards and just let them slouch like short boots. I love them!
BONUS POST.
Since I didn't post for a week.. I included this tiny little post-post (get it? post-post like after post. I'm lame)

Last week I went to my friends' wedding! It was the most amazing thing ever, I am so happy for them. I have never been in love and I kind of felt it through them if that is even possible, it's kind of hard to explain without sounding like a huge cheese ball. I don't know, I was so overwhelmed with joy and happiness I couldn't stop crying. Atleast now I know that the Rimmel Sexy Curve Waterproof Mascara actually works. Anyways. This dress was my prom dress three years ago. I do like it a lot but I hate re-wearing a dress that I wore on some sort of special occasion in my life. I feel like after the event is over, the dress will symbolize something. By wearing it again, it takes away all the memories and just jumbles up with the new and it doesn't seem as special anymore. But I was desperate! I tried a new look that I've always wanted to attempt but never got a chance to. Can you guess what it is? Probably not, cause I don't think I pulled it off. It was suppose to be old hollywood glam'esque. I will try again, one day. Okay this post is getting too long.
One of the trends for fall is gothic. It's not as scary as it sounds for those who haven't seen it. It contains a lot of lace and leather detailing and dark shades of clothing. I really like the trend except I highly doubt I can pull off that look. This outfit, minus the shoes and necklace, was actually gifted to me for my birthday from my two best friends, Vickie and Maria (That one loyal reader of our blog who will nag me if I do not post). They would get me printed pants and peplum! Haha I love it! The shoulder wrap looked a little bit weird and made my neck look stubby, so I draped it over one shoulder and pretended like I was oh so glamourous. I kind of like how it turned out. :P I tried to put my own gothic twist to this outfit with the dark lipstick and chain mail collar. It was not that successful. Oh well! The outfit screams Autumn to me, so thats good enough for me!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately! I have been quite busy, my photographer aka my mother has been busy, and I didn't like some of the stuff that was shot. Anywho, it was my birthday yesterday and I had school all day so I couldn't celebrate it. But I did celebrate with my family on the weekend which was awesome. Today I had a girls night out and I wanted to wear this dress/tunic before it got too cold to wear short dresses. I LOVE the Baroque trend that has emerged for this fall. The prints are so elegant and classy and beautiful. I love it. It makes me want to dress like Marie Antoinette for the whole season, hair, huge dresses, corsets, and everything! Bangs update. I am starting to like them but I do not like how it pokes my eyes, makes my eyes look smaller than they already are, put hair into my eyes (one full strand hair from my bangs went into my eye and just decided to swim around in my eye socket), and is so hard to maintain. It's a nice change... but I don't think it's one that is going to last too long for me. Also, I won't be having any nail tutorials or anything for a little while because I cut my nails. I have to regrow them so I can have a nice, new, clean canvas. :P That's it for now! Thanks for dropping by,

Capes were last year's fall trend but that doesn't mean you can't break it out every fall. I think capes are really cute for fall but there is a very small time slot to wear them because the weather here drops FAST. When you think you are finally getting used to fall... winter will come and snow on your parade. For those of you who don't trust Forever 21 shoes, they are really a hit or miss. You really have to try them on and evaluate every nitty gritty detail. Flats are pretty straight forward. Make sure your toes feel good and the back of the heel doesn't rub the wrong way against your foot. For heels, make sure your toes are comfortable because your feet are at an angle so they will slide forward and possibly scrunch your toes up. If you have arched feet, check to see if there is anything supporting the arch and make sure it's at the right spot of your foot. If it's not then the balls of your feet will be in pain after a couple hours. Of course you always want to check the heel. Blisters on the heel are painful! Padded insoles are your best friends. If the shoes do not have them, you can always buy them and put them in yourself but who wants to do that for Forever 21 shoes (Keep in mind that if you put insoles in yourself it will make the shoes tighter as well). Remember to really evaluate them! I bought a pair of flat boots last year that I wore to death. It barely lasted me the whole winter and the sole came off on one boot! but I do have to admit that these wedges are not too bad. I've lasted about 8 hours walking in these before my feet started to throb. That's more than I can say for a lot of my other shoes! Anyways, enough blabbering for one day. Bye for now!

I was feeling a little adventurous over the weekend and decided to get some straight bangs. This is the first time I've ever had straight bangs and I'm not sure how I feel about them just yet. As it is my first time, I probably should've went out and got them cut but, that adventurous factor kicks in once again and I went and attempted it! I think I did quite well cutting the hair.. but I'm still not sure if I like them on my face. Plus, they are a pain to groom, they poke my eyes and I'm too much of a coward to cut them any shorter. I will give it some time. PANTS! Printed pants excite me. I drool every time I walk past a store displaying printed pants. These printed pants came in multiple prints and colours for only $14.95. I want to go crazy and buy them all. This print is very easy to style because of its neutral colours so it can be paired nicely with any coloured top!

Oh yes, you probably already guessed it! An iPhone inspired look (WTF?). The new black iPhone 5 looks so sleek with the glossy and slate black. In the honor of the iPhone coming out today, I put together this black on black outfit making sure I pull out pieces with different textures to give the look more dimension. The last thing I want to do is actually look like an iPhone. I love this blazer! I have been looking for a blazer with a faux leather lapel for the longest time and of course, Forever 21 would never let me down. I am always looking for specific pieces whether it be faux leather shorts or paisley print tops, and eventually Forever 21 will have it, which is great because I get what I want and at a reasonable price! It's true what they say... 'Good things come to those who wait'

I decided to channel my inner bat today with this oh so big, sweater dress. It's a cold cold day but I was not ready to break out my jackets yet. I still want to squeeze out every bit of summer I can. This sweater dress is so comfortable. It made me want to fall asleep in every class.. which is not good. And there's that scarf again! I wore the head wrap today because I knew it was going to be cold out. I haven't had a chance to look for a turband yet, so this will have to do for now. I like keeping my ears warm, I feel very uncomfortable when they are cold, it's weird. I even sleep with a blanket over my ear or fluffed up on both sides to cover both. This outfit is great for coloured or printed bottoms! What's great about this sweater is that it keeps you warm but has a lot of room and holes for air circulation so you wont die of heat indoors. Hope you all are having a great hump day!

I've always wanted to be a flower girl when I was little. Just being a tiny little bride-like girl bouncing down the aisle would have been such an awesome memory and experience. This look is inspired by those adorable little snowballs and to say farewell to summer since today is the last sunday of the summer!
